On Sunday 7 June 2026, at Kiew Tawan Thanya Farm, Ngio Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, held a briefing meeting and launched the “Regenerative Burn-Free Rice Project for Clean Air and High-Value Markets (Clean Air Rice)”, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwaret Arikit, Director of the Rice Science Center, presiding over the opening and explaining the concept and approach of the project.
The highlight of the event was the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the "First Party", the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwaret Arikit, and the "Second Party", the Kiew Tawan Thanya Farm group and the Chiang Rai rice network, represented by Mr. Thanyapong Jaikham, group chairman, to jointly develop Chiang Rai Province into a model for regenerative burn-free agriculture and build a sustainable, environmentally friendly rice production system.
The main goals of cooperation under the MOU are:
* Support 100 percent burn-free rice straw management
* Reduce PM2.5 dust and hotspots in the operating areas
* Promote rice production by regenerative agriculture
* Develop a market-led production system and add value to rice produce
* Create a model of cooperation between academic agencies and farmer networks for sustainable rice production development
On this occasion, Mrs. Rungrattana Chamsing, Deputy Director of the Kamphaeng Saen Extension and Training Office, and Mr. Thanet Srisuk, Senior Agricultural Officer of the Kamphaeng Saen Extension and Training Office, Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, also helped drive development and learning between educational institutions and farmers for joint integration.
