KU Kamphaeng Saen Joins JICA and TICA to Drive Food Security, Transferring Thai Rice Technology to Africans
The Kamphaeng Saen Extension and Training Office, Kasetsart University, continues to underline its role as a global agricultural leader by opening the international training course “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries 2026”, in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), from 14 January to 20 February 2026.
The project's main goal is to strengthen the good relationship between Thailand and the countries of the African continent through the transfer of modern rice production knowledge and technology, aimed at solving hunger and building sustainable food security.
A deep dive into "Riceberry" technology, the heart of quality rice production
On this occasion, the Director of the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, assigned Mr. Suriya Phuengbamrung to lead the trainees on a field study visit at the demonstration paddy, to experience the rice production process first-hand at the "Riceberry" plot, a high-nutrition rice that is Thailand's pride.
Seeing field management and harvesting technology so African farmers can actually adapt them to their own local context.
This exchange is not only an export of technology but also builds a strong network of academic cooperation, which will benefit the country's image on the world stage.
