On 8 May 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwaret Arikit, Director of the Rice Science Center, and Prof. Dr. Apichart Vanavichit, Senior Advisor to the Rice Science Center, together with the center's research team, welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somwang Khantayanuwong, Vice President for Health Sciences Development and the Suphan Buri Area, Prof. Dr. Suree Jianmongkol, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and executives, faculty and staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Kasetsart University, who came to meet, discuss and take a study visit at the Rice Science Center.
On this occasion, the two agencies exchanged knowledge and approaches to developing research in “Agri-Pharma” and building on the potential of Thai medicinal plants, by integrating knowledge in agriculture, biological sciences and pharmacy, aiming to develop quality, standard-meeting raw materials for medicine and health.
The executives and faculty also visited the Rice Science Center's research operations, including plant breeding, use of biotechnology, analysis of key compounds in plants, and modern agricultural system management innovations, which can be extended into research and development of medicinal plants and health products in the future.
In addition, both sides discussed approaches to building an academic cooperation network, developing joint research, supporting teaching and learning, and developing personnel and new-generation researchers, to drive agricultural and health knowledge to benefit society and the country sustainably.
This meeting and study visit is another important step in integrating cooperation between agriculture and pharmacy, leading to innovation and research that answer the country's future needs in the economy, health and food security.
