On 24 June 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwaret Arikit, Director of the Rice Science Center, and Mr. Suman Hoimala, agricultural officer of the Rice Science Center, went into the field to meet farmers and community leaders in Khuan Subdistrict, Pong District, Phayao Province, one of the project areas of the “Clean Air Rice” project that the Rice Science Center is driving together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Waiphot Kanchu of the University of Phayao to promote environmentally friendly rice farming.
On this visit, views were exchanged and the progress of farmers in the area followed up, emphasizing reducing post-harvest rice straw burning to reduce dust and greenhouse gases, together with promoting approaches to managing agricultural residues for maximum benefit, leading to sustainably raising farmers' income and quality of life in the long term.
