On 1 September 2026, the Director of the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, assigned Mr. Suriya Phuengbamrung, research assistant at the Rice Science Center, to welcome Japanese students and faculty from Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan, who came to study and exchange learning at the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, Nakhon Pathom Province.
This study visit is part of the Thai Agribusiness study activity held on 31 August – 5 September 2026, covering learning from production, processing, distribution and marketing of agricultural products to the various production factors related to Thailand's agricultural sector. The Tokyo University of Agriculture group consisted of 18 Japanese students and 3 Japanese faculty members, 21 in total.
The group visited and studied the mission of the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, a center for research and knowledge development on rice, and received information on rice research, technology and innovation, including approaches to applying research knowledge from production to adding value to rice products.
Views were also exchanged on the rice value chain and agribusiness, from upstream to midstream and downstream, so the students could see Thailand's agricultural development in a dimension linking research, technology, production, processing, marketing and value addition, important knowledge for developing the agricultural sector in the future.
This activity is an important opportunity to build an academic cooperation network between Kasetsart University and Tokyo University of Agriculture, giving Japanese students and faculty a chance to learn about Thailand's rice science and technology capability and to exchange agricultural knowledge and experience between the two countries, leading to further cooperation in education, research and rice innovation in the future.
