On 8 May 2026, the Rice Science Center welcomed young participants from the “KU KPS Summer Camp Tour & Sport Camp: This Break, Have Fun at a Good Camp... Year 3”, who came to learn and have fun with the activity “Mission: Harvest Rice into the Pot” at the Thai Rice Ecosystem Learning Center, the Rice Science Center's demonstration paddy, in a bright atmosphere full of the laughter of children aged 5–8.
In the activity, the children got hands-on experience, starting with “harvesting Riceberry” themselves, learning how to “thresh rice” to separate grains from the panicle, then trying “milling and hulling the rice” to get beautiful purple Riceberry brown rice, which they cooked into lunch and ate together with pride.
This activity not only brought fun and smiles to the children but also instilled learning about rice, food and the Thai way of farming through hands-on practice, letting the children see the value of every grain of rice, from the paddy to the food on the plate.
The Rice Science Center hopes this kind of activity will be a space for learning that inspires young people to be close to nature, understand agriculture, and grow up with love for Thailand's resources and food in the future.
