Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siwaret Arikit, Director of the Rice Science Center, and Kasetsart University staff took part in the 2026 “Mother's Day Rice Planting” project on Friday 7 August 2026 at Thung Na Phrai, Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, with Mr. Atthawut Phuengniam, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Pathom, presiding over the opening, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chao Inprasit, Vice President of the Kamphaeng Saen Campus, reporting the objectives of the event, among more than 5,000 participants from all sectors.
This activity has been held continuously for the 21st year, to express gratitude for the royal kindness on the occasion of the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, and to carry on the Thai way of farming.
Participants jointly transplanted “#RicebertyRice” on more than 13.5 rai of paddy, an innovation and research result of the Rice Science Center, developed by crossing #HomNinRice from KU with #KhaoDawkMali105 from the Rice Department. Building research into society: Riceberry is a model of success in putting research to concrete economic and social use, with outstanding nutritional value and antioxidants that are internationally recognized.
Toward a sustainable agricultural future: Besides preserving traditional wisdom, the Rice Science Center remains committed to researching and developing rice varieties that support climate change, focusing on lines that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to push Thai agriculture toward a low-carbon society and build sustainable food security. This project therefore not only reflects the beautiful image of traditional rice farming but is also an important platform for passing knowledge and innovation from the Rice Science Center to farmers and the next generation of young people.
