International Photo Contest “RICE is LIFE: Rice Cultures in ASEAN Countries”
The Thai Rice Foundation under the Royal Patronage, together with the Photographic Society of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, is organizing an international photo contest on the theme “RICE is LIFE: Rice Cultures in ASEAN Countries” to celebrate the opening of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the Thai Rice Foundation under the Royal Patronage completing 15 years of operation in 2015.
Recognizing the importance of “rice”, the staple food that is deeply tied to the way of life of the people of ASEAN countries in economic, social and cultural terms, the foundation is holding the photo contest “RICE is LIFE: Rice Cultures in ASEAN Countries”, because rice is the center of culture in ASEAN countries. This photo contest will let Thai people and people in neighboring countries clearly see the similarities and differences in the rice cultures of the ASEAN countries, covering the importance of rice culture from various angles, such as
1. Rice in traditional ceremonies 2. Beliefs about rice 3. Rice and farmers 4. Rice-based food 5. Art and rice, etc.
Contest schedule
Submission deadline: 10 January 2015, 18:00 Thailand time (GMT+7) Judging: 6 February 2015, with results announced on www.rpst.or.th
Prizes
1. First prize: 3,000 US dollars, 1 prize 2. Second prize: 2,000 US dollars, 1 prize 3. Third prize: 1,000 US dollars, 1 prize 4. Honorable mention: 500 US dollars, 8 prizes
