On 28 August 2026, the Director of the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, assigned Dr. Jonaliza L. Siangliw, NSTDA researcher, and Dr. Siriphat Ruengphayak, researcher at the Rice Science Center, to welcome students and staff from Okayama University, Japan, who visited the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, Nakhon Pathom Province.
This visit is part of the student exchange program between Kasetsart University and Okayama University, Japan, with 8 Okayama University students together with faculty and staff, and 27 students from Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, taking part from 26 August – 3 September 2026 at Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, and from 6 – 15 September 2026 at Okayama University, Japan.
On this visit, the group took part in a visit and study of the research of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), listening to presentations and exchanging learning on agricultural and rice science research and innovation, as well as technology related to rice variety development, rice production, and applying science and technology to increase efficiency and add value to the agricultural sector.
The group also learned about the role of the Rice Science Center, Kasetsart University, in driving rice research, from basic research and innovation development to putting research knowledge to use in the agricultural sector, integrating cooperation among universities, research agencies and the agricultural sector to concretely develop rice technology and innovation together.
This activity is an important forum for exchanging knowledge in science, technology and agricultural innovation between Thailand and Japan, and gives students and staff from both countries a chance to learn diverse research approaches and build an academic cooperation network, which will be an important foundation for building on research and innovation cooperation in the future.
