My name is Mathurada Ruangsiri and my nickname is Palm. I was born on the 30th of July in 1991 in Samutsakhon. We are two children in the family. I am the eldest and I have a younger brother. My hobbies are playing ukulele, watching Korean dramas and camping with my family. I am interested in agriculture so after I graduated from Samutsakhon Burana School, I decided to study in agriculture in Kasetsart University in Kamphangsaen Campus, under the Agricultural Biotechnology program. I did my senior project on ‘Genetic Variation of Disease Resistant Genes on Chromosome 6 between Resistant and Susceptible Bacterial Wilt Tomato Lines’ This project aimed to improve bacterial wilt resistance in tomato by using DNA markers. Markers used for selection and analysis of the bacterial wilt resistance genes were designed from a DNA sequence found at a specific location in the genome which was associated with the inheritance of the trait or the gene. I had an opportunity to attend the student exchange program between Kasetsart University and University of Tsukuba, Japan for 6 months in October 2013 to March 2014. I studied in Japanese class when I lived there and I had friends from other countries such as Malaysia, Laos, Brazil and Great Britain. We had many trips in Japan on weekends. We visited Fuji Mountain, Kyoto and Hokkaido. Recently I joined as a research assistant at Rice Gene Discovery and Rice Science Center. My responsibility includes germpalsm, phenotype and genotype data management.
